bad and better

do you ever feel as though
you’re “getting bad” again?

you do things you say you wouldn’t
you think about things you shouldn’t
and you restrict yourself
to what you “couldn’t”

getting bad-
backing into old habits and
forgetting why you stopped
or at least tried to,
letting yourself sink into
the walls of your room,
questioning what is in front of you-
but none of this feels right,
and you are sad.

getting better-
then you wonder if it
is worth it at all
(it is);
putting down
those bad habits,
resurfacing from those walls,
embracing what is put out to you-
it feels better,
but not exactly right, yet,
you are still hopeful.

you wish
that change
could be much
easier.
soon enough,
you’ll get there.

getting bad or
getting better-
choose.
